Pause for thought ...

Too Busy? Too busy for God?

Just an excuse?
It's a standard reply when we can't be bothered - 'Sorry, I don't have time!' We may say it to a charity collector, a market researcher or a pushy salesman. Sometimes we really are too busy. Other times we are just not interested. Being too busy can lead us to miss something important. We can put of a vital health screen, fail to keep up with our cnances or neglect the people we love. This could end in disaster!

What about God?
In a busy life, the question of God seems remote or too complicated to worry about right now. Yet we all face death at some point. We don't know when that time will be. If it means facing God's judgement on our lives, it really does matter! There's a saying, 'There are no atheists on a sinking ship'. The prospect of death certainly unsettles us. It is one way God warns us to get to know him before it's too late. It's worth taking time to do this.

The God who gives us no excuse!
God has told us about himself in the Bible. We see him above all in the life of Jesus Christ. He has also shown us what we human beings are like, often at our very worst. This makes reading the Bible uncomfortable in places. But we need to do it so we understand how serious our position is. God is angry with all the wrong we do. The day we face his judgement is getting nearer.

This sounds like bad news. But there is good news too. The Bible says,'Now is the day of salvation'. Jesus came to save us from the punishment we deserve. To be saved we need to trust him.
Don't be too busy to find out how.
