Pause for thought ...

Life - and Death
The West End is full of life. Thousands enjoy the restaurants, theatres and clubs every day. For some, the entertainment provides a way to escape the harsher realities of life. One thing we want to avoid is death. Death makes us afraid, so we try not to think about it. But the truth is that we can't avoid death for ever.
What happens next?
Human beings have commonly believed that there is life beyond death. Many people turn to religion. They hope to be rewarded for the good they've done. But is anyone good enough for heaven?
That depends on how good we have to be. There are so many different standards. Few of us would claim to be perfect. Most would probably agree with Lily Allen, 'I'm not a saint but I'm not a sinner'. The trouble is, it's God's standard that counts. The Bible shows that we all fall far short of that standard. So each of us has good reason to fear God's judgement on our lives.
Is there any hope?
Yes! The Bible also reveals God's great love for us. Why else did he send his Son, Jesus Christ, from heaven into a world like this? By his life, Jesus met God's standard for us. By his death, he took the punishment we deserve. By his resurrection, he showed that he had defeated death. So there is hope! Jesus has promised eternal life to everyone who follows him. It begins in this life, and lasts for ever.
Do you need this hope for yourself? Religion can never deliver, but Jesus Christ can. Trust him completely and heaven is yours.
