'Pick up your phone and vote - now!'
We do like to judge people, don't we? From Strictly Come Dancing to Big Brother, TV shows take advantage of this. Radio presenters open their phone lines. 'Are you satisfied with ... ?' It could be anything from the state of the roads to Gordon Brown, but we want to have our say.
All too often we're tempted to think about God like this. We judge his performance depending on how satisfied we are with our lives.
'I can't get no ... satisfaction'
London seems to offer plenty to satisfy us. A West End shopping spree; a great
night out on the town; the prospect of a better job; the chance to find
romance. But how quickly that satisfaction can wear off. Like Oliver Twist
we are left asking for more. And when 'more' doesn't work, we blame God.
That's not fair! God is the reason for our existence. So we can never be truly satisfied without knowing him. But usually we'll try everything to find satisfaction except God!
How can we get to know God?
Simple! Get to know Jesus Christ. He is the only one who can bring about a relationship between us and God. How does he do this? Who is Jesus? Why was he crucified? Where is he now? The Bible gives us the answers we need.
So why go on looking for satisfaction anywhere else? Jesus offers life to the full, life that lasts for ever. Satisfaction guaranteed!
